Showdown in Atlanta

Newton and Auburn took Round 1 earlier this season

Four o’ clock can’t come fast enough.  Most eyes will be on the Georgia Dome in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.  I won’t lie, I’ll sneak and peek at Oregon and Oregon St too here and there.  We have so much to look at.  Auburn has overcome everything all year long on the field and off.  On the field they were down big to Georgia and Alabama and came back to win.  We all know about the whole Cam Newton saga off the field.  Somehow they just keep rolling along.

South Carolina just continues to prove us wrong and make believers out of everyone.  They avoided second half collapse that we’ve come accustomed to and finished 9-3.  They found a way to keep it together.  They went into the The Swamp and dominated Florida to win the SEC East.

South Carolina has never beaten Auburn since joining the SEC.  The team that wins the regular season game is 4-1 in the title game rematch.  Will these trends continue?  Big time players are everywhere, Newton, Nick Fairley, Marcus Lattimore, and Alshon Jerrery.  The coaching edge has to go to Spurrier especially in a big game like this.  The Gamecocks had Auburn on the ropes in Jordan-Hare in September.  That said I still have to go with Auburn in a shootout, 36-27.

Agree, disagree, agree to disagree.  It doesn’t matter.  Feel free to scroll down and leave a comment.
