The Wait is Almost Over

Newton and James will get top billing Monday night.

Monday night is getting closer and closer.  When the Cotton Bowl finishes up tonight, no disrespect to my Wildcats and Pitt in the BBVA Compass Bowl or Boston College and Nevada in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the hype will really start to build for Auburn and Oregon.

Wouldn’t it be funny if this ended up a 10-7 game?  Possible.  Sure it’s possible, but definitely not likely.  We all know about the high octane, up tempo, fast break offenses that both of these teams have.  They both average over 40 points per game, 500 yards per game (497 for Auburn), and the play clock never needs to be plugged up.  If you blink Cam Newton and LaMichael James will sneak a couple of highlight reel plays right by you.

The defenses are solid, but in this game they will be overlooked, with the exception of Nick Fairley.  The Lombardi Award winner will put his stamp on the game.  He’s a nonstop disruptive force in the middle who plays on the edge, occasionally he crosses the line.  No doubt he will introduce himself to James and quarterback Darron Thomas  several times throughout the course of the game.  When it’s all said and done I think the offenses come to play as advertised and we get a good close game.  Auburn wins 43-39.

Agree, disagree, agree to disagree.  It doesn’t matter.  Feel free to scroll down and leave a comment.
