NBA Thoughts

If both teams are healthy come playoff time, it could be a Spurs-Celtics Finals.

The season is just slightly more than half over.  Let’s take a look at a little bit of what’s going on.  The more things change the more they stay the same.  The West is still quite a bit stronger than the East.  Portland, currently the 8th seed in the West at 25-21, would be in good shape in the East.  They would be a game ahead of the Knicks, chasing Orlando for the 5th seed.  Right now Charlotte is 8th in the East at 18-25.

They should change The River Walk in San Antonio to The River Run.  The Spurs are 39-7 and are playing an up tempo style that they’ve never played before.  They could make a run at the Bulls 72-10 record, but they’ll probably shoot for home court throughout, shut it down and get healthy for the playoffs.

The Celtics are the cream of the East despite dealing with a ton of injuries.  I think they are similar to the Spurs, an  older team that will win the #1 seed and then rest up for the long playoff run.  The Heat and Lakers are the most serious threats to the Spurs and Celtics, but as of now I see both Boston and San Antonio meeting in the Finals if both teams are healthy.

In other news, since Paul Pierce hit the game winner in New York to beat them, the Knicks are 8-12 in their last 20 games.  Good news for them, they are in the East and barring a total collapse should make the playoffs for the first time in a long time.  As for my Rockets, oh my Rockets, there is no D in Houston or Rockets.  They allow 104.8 points per game.  Hard to win that way.  Only gets tougher, they go on  the road to play the  Spurs, Lakers, and Jazz over the next 5 days.

Finally, Blake Griffin is bringing back memories of Dominique Wilkins and Shawn Kemp, and he’s coming off of surgery that caused him to miss all of last season!!

Agree, disagree, agree to disagree.  It doesn’t matter.  Feel free to scroll down and leave a comment.
